So you’ve gotten to Pandaria and you want to start cooking (and farming!) but, your cookbook, it hasn’t got anything new…what? This has confused a few of my guild mates, and me as well to be honest. So here’s how it works: Get to Pandaria of course, then get to Halfhill in Valley of the Four Winds (shown below):
Once you get to Halfhill, there is a cooking trainer right beside the token vendor. Her name is Sungshin Ironpaw <Guide to the Ways> . She will give you new recipes, as well as a quest to cook a particular item. If you are not maxed cooking, but you are level 85, you can also power-level your cooking quite easily at this trainer. Once you do her two quests, she’ll then offer you quests in how to cook in all of the ways. See the guide at El’s Anglin for more indepth information about cooking training. You can buy all the ingredients you may need from the <Stockmaster> Nam Ironpaw, who trades food and other items for Ironpaw cooking tokens, through the questing you are able to buy the food for a token, then get that token rewarded back to you. You can, obviously, have the food on hand before you get there as well, particularly if you are leveling an alt’s cooking or have the gold to purchase it from the Auction House.
Getting the ingredients together to level your cooking will require a lot of vegetables, while you can buy them from the auction house, the easiest way to supplement your supplies is to start with the Tiller Faction, by talking to Farmer Yoon, from the cooking trainer you’ll want to head north a dozen or so steps. There’s a great guide to the tillers faction on wowhead already so I won’t go into detail here. Once you do the inital quests, you won’t be able to get any daily quests in this area until you hit level 90, but you can still cook and farm to improve your reputation and skill.
Hopefully this helps someone else who was wondering how to actually level up cooking with no new recipes.
Another tip: If you have cooking on multiple characters, get them out there and start your farm at level 85 as you can start using your alts farming food. Even if you aren’t going to level them for a bit. Also a good source of income on some servers, to farm then sell the vegetables!
Here I am on my farm, which I’ve been working on since right after launch:
