How to make a “mana potion” candle!

No silly screen shot this week, because, I wanted to share how to make the Candle I made this weekend!

For my close friends, you’ve already seen this but only the photos, here I’m going to give some step by step directions!

First you need to go to Hobby Lobby (or similar) and buy the following products:

1-500 ML (or 17 oz) Apothecary Jar
1-30 oz bucket of candle gel
1 package of dye (I bought the little 3 color pack, and used the whole blue bottle)
1 package of wicks that fit the size container you are using

You’ll also need:
An older pot (you don’t want to use a good one!!)
An old spoon
A funnel

ignore the mess on my desk! (and yum kit kat!)

First you’re going to want to  melt about half the bucket of gel in your sauce pan:  (be sure you follow the directions for your particular product!!)

yummy!

While the gel is melting, prepare the wick in your “vial”..I found it helpful to dip the silver part into the melting gel and then place it in the jar…this helped anchor it in place until the liquid was added:

Once the gel is melted, you’ll want to add your scent (if desired) and dye:

Scent and Dye

I used the whole bottle of blue for mine, to fill a 17 oz Jar to the neck.

Stir well, you should follow the directions for your particular product as to when you should add the dye.  I added mine in the sauce pan and then poured the product into the jar: (make sure to use a funnel and pour carefully, even though it wasn’t boiling hot it still got hot!)

Mana Potion Candle

All Done!

And now you can make your own!  (I’ll be making a Health Potion Candle as well, but I ran out of Candle Gel!)  I hope you’ve enjoyed this show of how geeky Eluna really can be!
